Description:

This book was written for students and engineers wishing to understand the basic principles behind the acquisition of optical imagery for Earth observation and the ways in which the quality of the images can be optimised. Intended both for designers and downstream users, the book begins with a detailed explanation of the physical principles involved when a satellite acquires an optical image and then goes on to discuss image processing and its limits as well as the ultimate performance obtained. It also covers in depth the problems to be solved when designing and dimensioning observation systems so that the reader can become familiar with the various processes implemented for acquiring an optical image. The book describes a very wide range of subjects from fundamental physics (radiation, electronics, optics) to applied mathematics (frequency analysis), geometry and technological issues. It draws on work done over many years by engineers from CNES (the French Space Agency), the IGN (the French National Geographic Institute) and ONERA (the French Aerospace Laboratory) in the field of satellite optical imagery.

... Image Processing Our Image Processing Services Satellite Imaging Corporation (SIC) specializes in satellite imaging collections, producing seamless orthorectified imaging mosaics, DEMs (Digital Elevation Models) and 3D Digital Terrain Models (DTMs) for many industries using CAD and GIS applications utilizing high, medium resolution mono and stereo satellite image data ... Satellite Imagery - an overview | ScienceDirect Topics ... . Data products generated from High Resolution Satellite Imagery (HRSI) are routinely evaluated during the so-called in-orbit test period, in order to verify if their quality fits the desired features and, if necessary, to obtain the image correction parameters to be used at the ground processing center. Nevertheless, it is often useful to have tools to evaluate image quality also at the final ... While traditional software aimed at analysing single images, the need arises for fully automated organization of large image archives with thousands of images together with a highly capable processing framework to make full use of available hardware resources. While traditional software aimed at analysing single images, the need arises for fully automated organization of large image archives with thousands of images together with a highly capable processing framework to make full use of available hardware resources. The pyroSAR environment aims at providing a complete solution for the organization and processing of SAR satellite data for ... The parameters of an orbit around the Earth (perigee, apogee and tilt), combined with the speed of rotation of the Earth, automatically defines an orbital cycle: the satellite has to pass through a number of orbits (complete revolution around the Earth) before flying over exactly the same area in the same image shooting conditions (16 days for Landsat-8, 26 days for PLEIADES, etc.). L3Harris Geospatial offers an extensive selection of the highest resolution satellite imagery commercially available. Our vast archive includes imagery from all leading providers, such as DigitalGlobe, Airbus, and Satrec Imaging. With imagery collected from the past two decades, along with so many different options available, we can offer high resolution imagery for nearly any place on Earth ... Satellite imagery and air photos. Observing Canada's territory from the air and from space are powerful and cost effective ways to monitor our land, water and borders. Air photos . Discover more than 6 million aerial photographs covering all of Canada dating back to the 1920s. Offering finer detail than satellite imagery, the National Air Photo Library is a comprehensive historical archive ... Since the launch of its first Earth observation satellite in 1986, Airbus Defence and Space has successfully built and delivered almost 50 Earth observation satellite systems, accumulating over 30 years of in-orbit operation. Not a single one of these missions has ever failed in orbit. Today, many of our satellites are in operation well beyond their originally scheduled lifetime. At the same ... A little more than a decade ago, the only satellite imagery most people saw was a weather map on a TV broadcast. That changed with the launch of IKONOS in 1998, when the world's first commercial high-resolution Earth imaging satellite returned stunning images from around the globe. From more than 400 miles in space, the striking details of ......
